Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 53

February 22;   Acts 19:6;   108/260(VI);   ‘Laid Hands On’

Acts 19:6 And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

Paul was now in Ephesus.  He found some disciples.  Paul, like Jesus, must always have been looking for anyone to bless and share the Word with.  These disciples had only learned of the baptism (placing into) of John the Baptist.  A baptism for repentance and to believe on Him who was to come, Jesus Christ.  Paul shared the gospel and these disciples believed and were water baptized.  Then Paul laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, they were baptized in the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues.  The anointing of the Holy Spirit upon Paul was transferred to those new Christians, by the laying on of hands and they began to speak in tongues.  Laying on of hands is one very powerful way the things of God are transferred from one person to another.  The anointing on Moses to lead the Jewish people was transferred to Joshua by the laying on of hands.  The Bible says that the Jewish people recognized that the anointing on Joshua was the same anointing as was upon Moses.  Prophecies of things to come as in the case of Jacob (Israel) prophesying over Joseph’s two sons was done by the laying on of hands.  The healing anointing of the Lord Jesus and later on the disciples was transferred by the laying on of hands.  When hands are laid on someone, the person who has hands laid on them, can use that as a point of contact to release their faith to receive what they need.  Many blessings are transferred by the laying on of hands.
