Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 51

February 20;   Acts 17:23;   106/260(VI);   ‘Every Opportunity’

Acts 17:23 for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you:

Paul was in Athens waiting for Timothy and Silas.  Never one to waste time, Paul was in the synagogue preaching to the Jews and the gentiles.  He also spent time in the marketplace sharing with anyone who might be there.  Paul tells us in I Corinthians 11:1 to imitate him, while he imitates Jesus.  What a heart Paul had to share the gospel with anyone and everyone he could, wherever he was.  A perfect example of this is that a group of philosophers heard Paul and brought him to a place called the Areopagus, where they all congregated to hear the latest philosophical information.  Paul had seen an altar, on it inscribed “To the Unknown God.”  So Paul used this as an opportunity to share Jesus with them.  Each day, as you talk to people or see things, ask the Lord to help you to hear what people say and see things that you can use to begin to share the Lord with them.  We, like Paul, have been given a sound mind and the mind of Christ.  Use it creatively to share with them.  Regardless of how exciting the world tells us that its things are, real excitement for us as Christians, are opportunities to tell others how much they are loved by the Lord and what He has done for them.  If you sincerely want to be a laborer for the Lord, and ask the Holy Spirit to help you reach the lost, He will open your spiritual and natural eyes and you will have opportunities to share Jesus and lead them to the One who changed your life.  The things of the world get boring.  The things of the Lord get better.
