Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 44

February 13;   Acts 10:46;   99/260(VI);   ‘Upon, Speaking’

Acts 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God…..

Peter was in Joppa, when a Roman Centurion, named Cornelius was visited by an angel who told Cornelius to send for Peter who would share the gospel with him and his household.  Cornelius was a godly man and he obeyed the angel.  Peter was praying on the roof of the home he was staying in.  He had a vision of all kinds of animals he could not eat because of the Law.  The Lord told him to eat those animals.  Peter told the Lord they were unclean.  Jesus told Peter do not call unclean what He had cleansed.  This happened three times. When Peter arrived, Cornelius fell to the ground to worship him.  Peter told him to get up for he too was just a man.  Peter also told Cornelius that as a Jewish man he would never go into a gentile home.  Peter then said the Lord spoke to Peter and told him to, he was given revelation that his vision also meant not to call the gentiles unclean and to share the gospel with them as well as the Jews.  Peter shared the gospel with Cornelius and many others who were in his home.  They believed the preaching of Peter and were Born Again and the Holy Spirit then came upon them, just as He did on the day of Pentecost, and they were baptized in the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues.  The Bible always teaches what we need to know.  Proof of being baptized in the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues.  Many say that you can be baptized in the Holy Spirit without speaking in tongues.  That is not what the Word of God teaches.  The Word of God has to be the final authority for any topic under discussion.  Thank God for the truth of the Word.
