Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 38

February 7;   Acts 4:24;   93/260(VI);   ‘One Accord’

Acts 4:24 So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: "Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them,

The religious leaders arrested and threatened Peter and John after the crippled man, at the temple gate, was healed by the Name of Jesus.  The religious leaders, after the crucifixion, thought they were done with Jesus Christ.  Peter and John immediately went to the group of Christians they knew, in reality the church.  The Bible calls the believers Peter and John went to, their own company.  Once we become Christians, we are in this world, but not of this world.  We need to be around other Christians who believe the things of God as we do.  There are fine Christian churches who teach you must be Born Again, but do not believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit or healing.  Once you see that these truths are in the Bible and are for today, it is imperative for you to find a church which believes like you do, so that you can be in one accord with them.  That is where the power comes in prayer, being in unity.  Once Peter and John were with their own company, they shared their experience with the crippled man and the threats of the religious leaders.  Immediately the church began to pray about the situation.  The Bible says that they were in one accord, united to pray for Peter and John.  There is tremendous power in united prayer, people of like precious faith standing with you, praying together against the problem those in the church faced.  They prayed so intensely, the building shook and the Lord mightily answered their prayers.  This is a vital reason, not only to be part of a local church, but to be part of a local church that you agree with spiritually.
