Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 362

December 28;   Luke 8:50;   52/260(V);   ‘The Power of Your Words’

Luke 8:50 But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, "Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well."

Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, came to Jesus with an urgent request.  His daughter was dying and Jairus believed Jesus would heal her.  The religious leaders hated Jesus, but this man’s need superseded any animosity he might have had.  There were multitudes around Jesus.  Many of them would have belonged to the synagogue Jairus was in charge of.  Jairus humbly fell at the feet of Jesus and begged Him to come to heal his little girl.  Thank God His need was more important than his pride, what others may have thought.  Jesus went with Jairus, He always follows faith.  As they neared Jairus’ home, his servants came and told Jairus the daughter died and not to trouble the Lord any longer.  Jesus heard what they said and immediately told Jairus, “Don’t be afraid, just believe.”  Before Jairus could ‘curse’ the girl with negative words, Jesus said to him, do not say a word, just believe.  Since we are spirit beings, our words are powerful.  As always, the incredible Word of God is constantly instructing us as what to do and what not to do.  If Jesus was telling Jesus to watch what he said, so that he did not curse himself and his daughter with negative words, that is what we too are being taught in this passage of scripture. Jairus help his tongue, Jesus went to his home and raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead. Learn to control your mouth as well, speaking only what the Bible says.
