Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 320

November 15;   Acts 8:17;   97/260(II);   ‘Each Part Doing Its Share’

Acts 8:17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

Saul (soon to be the Apostle Paul) was persecuting the Church and the believers were scattered.  Wherever they went, they preached the Word of God.  Nothing can stop the Lord Jesus Christ and His work from being done.  Communist countries, Muslim countries, everywhere, multitudes have been and continue to get saved.  Henry David Thoreau, a famed atheist, held up a Bible and said, “In one hundred years no one will even know what this Book is.”  One hundred years later, Thoreau’s home had been turned into a print shop and they were printing copies of the Bible in his very residence.  Nothing can stop Jesus.  Phillip had gone to Samaria, his preaching and miracles caused a great number of people to accept Jesus.  The Church in Jerusalem heard this and sent Peter and John to Samaria to get the new Christians baptized in the Holy Spirit.  It was as if the gift of getting people Spirit filled was stronger on Peter and John than it was on Phillip.  It wasn’t that Phillip couldn’t get the new converts Spirit filled, but Peter and John had a stronger anointing to do so.  Famed minister, Howard Carter, was used mightily by the Lord to get people Spirit filled.  When it came to healing, he always deferred to his wife, whom he said had a stronger anointing to heal than he did.  The name of the game is to help others.  Knowing the areas you are anointed in most helps you to utilize that aspect of ministry to help believers.  No one has it all, only Jesus.  We all must thank the Lord for the privilege of being used by Him in any area of ministry.  Flowing in any supernatural area of ministry is an incredible gift.
