Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 311

November 6;   Acts 5:15;   94/260(II);   ‘The Healing Anointing’

Acts 5:15 so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them.

The power of the Holy Spirit is beyond comprehension.  It was the power of the Holy Spirit that raised the Lord Jesus from the dead.  Jesus healed and did miracles, signs and wonders by the power of the Holy Spirit, which came upon Jesus when He was water baptized in the Jordan River.  That power, or the anointing, was recharged in the ministry of Jesus by prayer and close fellowship with His Father.  So much so, that those in need of healing just had to touch His garments or Jesus Himself and the anointing would flow out of Jesus, into the person in need of healing and they would be made well.  Peter was baptized in the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, and the anointing of the Holy Spirit flowed through Peter as it did through Jesus.  Just like the Lord Jesus, Peter spent a great deal of time praying and fellowshipping with the Lord.  Since Jesus commissioned His disciples and us to continue His ministry, the only logical reason they and we can heal and perform miracles is that the same power Jesus healed by, the power of the Holy Spirit is upon us and flows through us.  It was not the literal shadow of Peter that healed.  As Peter came near to someone in need of healing, the anointing of the Holy Spirit would flow out of Peter, into the one in need of healing.  The Lord loves us and does all He can to bring healing to those in need.  Peter’s decision to spend the rest of his life in close fellowship with the Lord and doing the work of the ministry, empowered him to flow in the miracle anointing of the Holy Spirit.  You and I can decide, like Peter to ‘go all in.’  Nothing is better.
