Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 308

November 3;   Acts 3:10;   92/260(II);   ‘Filled With Wonder’

Acts 3:10 Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Peter and John were going into the Temple to pray.  There was a crippled man who sat at the Beautiful Gate, and begged.  Peter, recently baptized in the Holy Spirit, boldly commands the crippled man to stand up in the Name of Jesus.  There are several ways taught in the Bible for a person to be healed.  Using the Name of Jesus is one of them.  The Lord Jesus gave us His Name to use in ministry.  He said if we would boldly use His Name to minister, it would be as if Jesus Himself was there.  When Peter used Jesus’ Name, the crippled man was healed.  He jumped up, leaped and shouted, going into the Temple.  Many of the people who were in the Temple praying knew that this was the crippled man, who begged, and now they saw him literally ‘jumping for joy, completely healed.  God’s Word says that those who saw this man, now healed, were filled with wonder.  Healings and miracles have this effect on people.  The Lord uses healing to bless and help those who are suffering, because He loves them.  He also uses healing to bless and help others, who witness the miracle.  Healings and miracles are proof that Jesus Christ loves us and that He is the Son of God.  Peter was a man, empowered by the Holy Spirit, continuing the ministry of Jesus.  This is what Jesus always intended for His Church, believers to do, when He ascended into heaven.  The Holy Spirit flowed out of Peter, just like He flowed out of Jesus.  Continuing the ministry of the Lord Jesus, makes life fulfilling and rewarding.  Every day is a new adventure.  The power of the Holy Spirit flowing out of you, it fills them with wonder
