Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 304

October 30;   John 21:22;   9/260(II);   ‘An Individual Walk’

John 21:22 Jesus said to him, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me."

The Lord Jesus, having risen from the dead, asked Peter three times if Peter loved Him.  Each time Peter replied in the affirmative.  Jesus told him to feed His sheep.  In other words, teach people the Word of God.  The Lord then tells Peter how he will be martyred.  Whether Peter understood what Jesus was saying or not, we do not know.  Historically, we do know that Peter, who denied Jesus three times, when confronted by servant girls, after the baptism in the Holy Spirit became bold and fearless.  The empowerment of the Holy Spirit, enabled Peter to be mighty in preaching and supernatural miracles.  After telling Peter that he would by martyred, Jesus then tells Peter to follow Him.  The always inquisitive Peter, looks at the disciple, John, and asks Jesus what John was going to do.  Jesus then gave Peter an answer, telling Peter not to wonder about John’s future.  Jesus tells Peter a second time, ‘you follow Me.’ Each of us were known by the Lord before we were born and even then, He had a specific plan for each of our lives.  Once we become Born Again, we are to diligently strive to know our Lord and Savior intimately.  We do this through spending quality time in the Word, fellowshipping with the Lord in prayer and in sincere worship.  If we will do that, one of the blessings that we will derive, will be His revealing His perfect will for our lives.  God’s Word gives us His ‘general’ direction for our lives.  Conduct, character, prayer for others, sharing Jesus and leading them to Jesus.  He also will reveal His specific plan for your life.  Do what you are called to do and be blessed.
