Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 303

October 29;   John 20:31;   88/260(II);   ‘So That We Would Believe’

John 20:31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

Verse 30 of this chapter tells us that Jesus did many other signs, witnessed by His disciples, which are not recorded in the Bible.  It is said that the gospels, not counting the birth of Jesus and the crucifixion of Jesus, cover only 27 days of his actual ministry.  John 21:25 adds that if every-thing the Lord Jesus did in His earthly ministry, were written down, there wouldn’t be enough room in this world to contain the books.  Since that is true, are we, the Body of Christ missing out on the totality of the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ?  Absolutely not.  The above verse teaches that God, the Holy Spirit, chose specific details of Jesus’ ministry to record in the Bible.  Those details, when read and believed, are more than enough for anyone to receive Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.  When a person does that, eternal life is instantly given.  They will live in heaven with the Lord Jesus forever.  Eternal life also means, that the life of God begins the moment they are Born Again.  The life of God on earth means that all of the blessings and provisions the Lord Jesus died and rose again to provide for us are ours.  The entire Bible, Old Testament and New Testament, are written to reveal Jesus Christ.  Through the genius of the Holy Spirit, as you read God’s Word and begin to understand it more, you see types and shadows of Jesus everywhere.  How exciting it is, as your love for the Lord and His Word grows in you, to begin to see how Jesus is revealed in so many ways.  The more you see Jesus, in God’s Word, the more your faith will grow and the more certain you are that Jesus is all the Word says He is.
