Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 3

January 3;   Luke 14:11;   58/260(VI);   ‘Godly Humility’

Luke 14:11 For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

Pride caused satan to rebel against God and got him thrown out of heaven.  The devil’s name was Lucifer.  Most believe that he was the angel in charge of worship in heaven.  He was a magnificent angel and this caused him to actually think that he could rebel against God and sit on the Throne of Heaven himself.  His rebellion was instantly crushed.  Lucifer, now satan, and one third of the angels he deceived, who rebelled with him, were cast down to the earth. The nature of satan is pride and pride is the nature of everyone who is not Born Again.  It is an ‘anti-God’ position, basically telling the Lord that you do not need Him in your life.  The time will come when all of your ability and intellect will not get you out of the circumstances you find yourself in.  Christianity is not a weak, ‘namby pamby.’ ‘I can’t do anything’ lifestyle.  Christianity is knowing that we are fallible and our success in life comes from a strong relationship with the Lord.  The Bible says that we can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens us.  It is living a life with total faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who lives in our spirit.  It is knowing that by faith, which is a result of our growing relationship with the Lord, through the Word and prayer, we will be victorious in all life brings.  Knowing the Lord Jesus is always with us and that He empowers us by the Holy Spirit brings security and peace. Our lives are in the hands of the Lord and He takes wonderful care of those who love Him, as we do.
