Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 293

October 19;   John 10:27;   78/260(II);   ‘We Know His Voice’

John 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

As Christians, we clearly hear the voice of Jesus.  How do we hear His voice?  The Word of God is Jesus Christ speaking to us.  John 1:1 teaches that the Lord Jesus is the Word of God.  When we read, know and obey the Word of God, we are hearing Jesus’ voice.  Shepherds in the time of Jesus would spend time together, their herds mixing together.  When it came time for one of the shepherds to leave, He simply raised his voice and his sheep knew that voice and immediately left the other sheep to follow their shepherd.  How true that is for us as believers today.  There are all kinds of voices in the world, many not good.  Once we become a Christian and learn God’s Word, we will follow Jesus closely, not being deceived by or listening to any other voice.  Once we become Born Again, we are known by Jesus.  We have an eternal relationship with our Lord and can fellowship with Him anytime we choose to.  How close our fellowship with Jesus is, is not up to Him, it is up to us.  Because He knows us and loves us, we can have a personal and intimate friendship with Him.  If we choose to do that, the fellowship builds faith to the point that fear, worry and any other distraction the devil may try to bring against us, will have no effect.  Finally, Jesus said that we will follow Him.  Once we become Born Again and begin to learn His Word and fellowship with Jesus in prayer and worship, the only thing that we want to do is follow Him.  His love, the Word, the power of the Holy Spirit so completely changes our life, that the thought of not following Jesus or following someone else has no relevance.
