Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 272

September 29;       Luke 16:10;      60/260(II);       ‘God Watches, You Decide’

Luke 16:10 He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.

The ministry, serving the Lord is unlike anything else.  The simple reason why, is that in ministry, we are dealing with the eternal spirits of people.  Nothing regarding ministering to people is unimportant.  Almost always, even if you know that you are called to preach, when you first start out in ministry you rarely will be preaching from day one.  A church would be foolish to allow an unproven novice to minister from the pulpit.  Little or nothing is known about this new Christian.  A wise leader would start the zealous Christian in a ministry that is more behind the scene.  By doing this, the overseer can observe the faithfulness and attitude of the individual. If that person is faithful to do what he or she is asked to do and the ministry requires, it should open the door for that believer to be promoted to a more congregation oriented position.  The Bible says a faithful man will be able to teach others.  The Bible also says that faithful people are rare.  If the Christian believes they are called to an ‘important’ ministry, by starting them out in a smaller responsibility ministry, their faithfulness or lack thereof can be observed.  If that person is not faithful in a smaller role, the Lord and the church will not be able to trust them in anything else.  The stakes are too high.  Offenses are all too frequent even with the most faithful serving.  An unfaithful person can greatly hinder the work in a church.  An unfaithful person can change and if the ministry is important enough to them, they will.  The Bible teaches that we are to do whatever we do with all of our heart, because we are doing it for the Lord Jesus Christ.
