Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 269

September 26;   Luke 13:10;   57/260(II);   ‘Multiplication’

Luke 13:10 Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.

The genius of the Lord is seen in every word, of every verse in the Bible.  Jesus was teaching in ‘one’ of the synagogues.  How incredibly vital that word one is.  When the Lord Jesus ministered on the earth, He was the only One who was empowered by the Holy Spirit for ministry.  That power flowed only out of Him.  For a while, He transferred that anointing to His disciples and then to 70 followers.  They were empowered to preach, heal and cast out demons.  But for the exception of that short period of time when He did transfer that Holy Spirit power, He was the only One who ministered this way.  In John 16, Jesus tells us that it is important that He goes away, back to heaven.  Why would that be, since Jesus was such a blessing while He was here?  The answer is simple.  The Lord tells us in John 16 that when He returned to heaven, He would send the Holy Spirit back to the earth to empower, the soon to be created Church.  The Holy Spirit would come into the spirit of every person who becomes Born Again and the Holy Spirit would empower every Christian when they become baptized in the Holy Spirit.  That Holy Spirit power, would enable the Church to continue the ministry of Jesus in exactly the same way that He ministered.  In spite of the hype of TV, concerning new movies, ads for rock concerts, sports, and fabulous vacation resorts, life is pretty routine and mundane.  Jesus changes everything.  Every Christian who determines to fulfill the Lord’s call on their life, purposing every day to actively seek to share with and pray for others, enters the ‘life of God.’  Nothing could compare,
