Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 267

September 24;   Luke 11:33;   55/260(II);   ‘Let Your Light Shine’

Luke 11:33 "No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light.

The Lord Jesus told us that He is the light of the world (John 8:12).  He also tells us that we are the light of the world.  The Lord’s light brings truth, spiritual growth, comprehension of why things are the way that they are and the ability to change the way things are.  That is what we, as Jesus’ disciples are to do.  When we become Born Again and begin to see life through the Word of God, we too are the light of the world.  Those who do not know Jesus yet, desperately need what we have come to know is true, God’s Word.  Since God’s Word is so vital, once we know the Word, we have the privilege and the responsibility to tells others the good news of Jesus Christ.  The Lord saved us because He loves us and wants us to be with Him forever.  He also loves those who have not yet accepted Him as Lord and Savior.  That is why we must not take the light that God’s Word brings and hide it by never sharing the life changing scriptures with those who do not yet know the truth.  We can and must rise above intimidation or anything else that would hinder our telling others the life changing truths of God’s Word.  The religious leaders saw the incredible miracles Jesus did.  They heard the teachings of Jesus, which He taught with great authority and the ‘common’ people loved.  Their jealousy caused them to hate Jesus and they refused to come to the light of the gospel.  They were spiritually blind, which made them capable of every evil.  Make a decision today, knowing you are the light of the world, refuse to let anything hinder you from sharing Jesus.  The lost and blind need His light so much.
