Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 253

September 9;   Mark 13:31;   41/260(II);   ‘The Unchanging Word’

Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

Religious books change, history books change, self-help books constantly change, things that are good for you change to things that are bad for you and then change back to being good for you.  Is there anything that does not change?  Absolutely, The Bible.  Because the Word of God never changes, you can and must build your life on what it teaches.  The truths taught in the pages of God’s Word are as relevant today as they were when the Holy Spirit inspired men to write them.  As you study the circumstances of biblical characters and what those characters did, you realize that these stories relate perfectly to our lives today.  Only the genius of the Lord could have done this.  The teachings of the Bible, if followed, will change and bless the life of anyone who does them.  God’s Word is a spiritual Book.  What the Bible says influences our spirit, which in turn influences our mind and body.  Secular books have no lasting ability to change a person, since they only deal with the mind and the body.  It does not mean that those who write these worldly books do not care, nor does it mean that their observations are not true.  What it does mean though, is until the Lord is recognized and His directions found in the Bible are followed, minimal help will be realized.  Every historical fact in the Bible has proven to be true.  The ability to change your life for the better is found on the pages of the Word.  Jesus, in this chapter, is talking about future events.  Since everything that Jesus said would happen, has happened, we can have great faith that what He says will happen in the future, will.  God’s Word, trustworthy.
