Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 250

September 6;   Mark 10:16;   38/260(II);   ‘Like a Child’

Mark 10:16 And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.

What parent does not want their child blessed by Jesus?  It was the same back in Jesus’ day.  Culturally and religiously, children had very little worth.  So much so that the disciples rebuked those who brought their children to Jesus.  Religion is an enemy of Christianity and is responsible for so much misunderstanding of the truth of the Lord.  When the disciples rebuked the parents who brought their children to be blessed, the Lord Jesus was greatly displeased.  Jesus told His disciples to let the children come to Him.  Jesus goes on to say that everyone is to receive the kingdom of God like a little child.  How does a little child receive something?  With absolute trust and great excitement.  When you give a child something that they desire, they love and appreciate what they have been given and they spend a great deal of time enjoying what was given.  That is a perfect analogy of how Jesus wants us to be when it comes to becoming Born Again.  We are to receive our salvation with absolute trust that we have been accepted by the Lord.  There should be a great deal of excitement about our new relationship with the Lord.  Just like a child we should be incredibly grateful for our redemption and spend a great deal of time getting to know the Lord Jesus Christ by reading the Word and praying.  To put it very simply.  When we are Born Again, there must be a constant thankfulness that not only are we not going to go to hell, but that this life will now be more fulfilling than we ever imagined it could be.  Jesus loved the little children and picked them up and blessed them.  He does the same for us.
