Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 249

September 5;   Mark 9:2;   37/260(II);   ‘It’s What’s Inside’

Mark 9:2 After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them.      NIV

It is so important that we know that we are a spirit, we have a soul (mind) and we live in a body.  It is our spirit that is made in the image of God (Genesis1:26).  It is our spirit that is recreated when we become Born Again.  The Holy Spirit removes the heart of stone (pride) and gives us a heart (spirit) filled with the love of God.  We are to live our lives governed by our recreated spirit.  Our spirit is to grow in faith by the Word of God and prayer.  The Word of God is to renew our mind and our spirit, alive unto God, and our renewed mind are to control our body.   The world, alienated from God, influenced by satan, does everything it can to keep your attention focused on your body and your mind.  If you spend minimal time on your spirit or none at all, not even knowing you are a spirit, the devil has you.  A heart of stone, separated from God and a body and mind alienated from the Lord, focused on the world, not only puts a person in a position where they make no difference for the Lord on the earth but also where that person is in danger of eternal separation from the Lord, should they pass on.  Taking Peter, James and John up onto a mountain the Lord was transfigured before them. The glory of His spirit, the real Jesus, shone forth in blinding radiance.  The appearance of Jesus terrified the disciples.  Jesus showed them who a spiritually alive Person is, so that the disciples could get a picture in their spirit and mind of who they really were in Jesus.  They would remember this experience and after being Spirit filled, recall who they truly were and minister powerfully, just like Jesus..
