Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 24

January 24;   John 11:42;   79/260(V!)   "You Always Hear Me"

John 11:42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me."

The Lord Jesus was at the tomb of Lazarus, His friend. Jesus was about to raise Lazarus from the dead. Here is another example, of Jesus as our Example, on how we are to conduct our lives. In this case, Jesus was exemplifying praying with absolute faith. Jesus is praying out loud and He with great faith declares that God the Father always hears Him when He prays. Jesus did this so that when He raised Lazarus from the dead the people would believe He is the Messiah and also that they would see how it is possible to pray with absolute trust. Jesus spent much time in prayer and fellowship with His Father. The Bible teaches that we too are sons (and daughters of God – I John 3:1). If we will spend time in sincere prayer, fellowshipping with the Father as Jesus did, our faith level will soar and our prayers will be answered. In this verse, the Lord Jesus said that when the Father answered His prayer, the people will know that the Father sent Jesus. John 17:18 teaches that the Lord Jesus sends us, just as God the Father sent Jesus. We are called sons and daughters of God and John 17:23 tells us the Father loves us as much as He loves Jesus. As you read the Word, you can learn so much from the Example Jesus gave us. Your fellowship with the Father can be as close and personal as you desire it to be. The closer the fellowship, the greater your faith becomes in who you are and what you can do because the Lord is with you and the Holy Spirit empowers you. Then we too will say, “You always hear me.” This is how the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ continues through us. What an honor.
