Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 2

January 2;   Luke 13:16;   57/260(VI);   ‘Whom satan Has Bound’

Luke 13:16 So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound — think of it — for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?"

Jesus was teaching in a synagogue, He saw a woman who had been bowed over for eighteen years and could not straighten up.  Notice that the Lord Jesus saw her.  He was always looking for circumstances he could get involved with and change.  Please know that if you are having a tough time, with anything, Jesus knows and will help you if you believe that and ask Him to. Jesus called the condition a spirit of infirmity.  He called the woman to Himself, laid hands on her and healed her.  The ruler of the synagogue was angered because Jesus healed on the Sabbath.  I do not believe that the ruler of the synagogue cared that it was the Sabbath.  I believe the ruler was angered because the Lord Jesus healed the woman and the ruler could not.  The ruler was jealous of the power of the Lord and the attention He received because of His miraculous power.  The Lord Jesus identifies the author of this sickness as satan.  She was bound by satan and not God.  Never believe that God the Father is the Author of sickness.  He loves us.  It is our adversary the devil who afflicts people.  Religion cannot do what the Lord does by the power of the Holy Spirit and so religious people try to find some way to criticize what a loving Lord does through those who believe.  Never let that stop you from manifesting the power of the Holy Spirit in helping those who need a healing touch from God.  Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and He surely did.  Healing is always available by the grace and power of God.
