Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 191

July 13:   Revelation 11:3;   249/260(I);   ‘The Two Witnesses’

Revelation 11:3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth."

The second half of the tribulation has begun.  This period of time is also called the great tribulation because of the fierce persecution by the antichrist forces.  In yet another act of mercy, the Lord raises up two witnesses who will be prophesying, or sharing the gospel, for three and one half years.  The Lord will never be outdone by the antichrist.  Most believe that the two witnesses will be Elijah and Moses.  They will be given the power to protect themselves       (verse 5).  Fire comes out of their mouths to devour their enemies. Verse 6 tells us that they have the power to prevent rain, Elijah did that and to turn the waters into blood and strike the earth with plagues, Moses did that. Though it is not recorded in chapter 11, most likely multitudes will be saved because of what these two witnesses share.  Verse 7 teaches that a demonic beast will kill them, but not until they have finished their ministry.  What a wonderful testimony, do not let anything prevent you from fulfilling your ministry either.  Verse 10 says that those who are unsaved will rejoice when the two witnesses are killed.  This is further proof that the witnesses were successful in greatly hindering the antichrist forces and in leading many to Jesus.  After three and one half days they two witnesses will be resurrected, causing great fear in those who see this (verse11).  Their resurrection also initiates an earthquake which causes even more fear and leads multitudes to turn to the Lord.  God the Father is still moving, doing all He can, in so many ways to, save those who have not yet accepted Jesus.  His love never gives up.
