Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 19

January 20;   John 6:40;   74/260(VI);   ‘See & Believe’

John 6:40 For it is my Father's will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life — that I should raise them at the last day."  NLT

The Lord Jesus tells us very clearly what the will of God the Father is.  The Father’s will is that everyone who sees the Lord Jesus and believes in Him will have everlasting life.  There are not many ways to heaven.  That sounds so religious, but it is not biblical.  How can we see the Lord Jesus?  He is in heaven.  We see the Lord Jesus very clearly as we read about Him in the Word of God.  Religion has its own books and information.  What these books teach may not and probably do not line up with the Word of God.  The Bible teaches that the scriptures are written so that we will believe on the Lord Jesus and through our believing, everlasting life will be granted to us (I John 5:13).  I have never seen the Lord Jesus with my physical eyes, but I see Him so clearly in my spirit as I read in the Word of His love and what He willing did for me.  When the Lord Jesus had risen from the dead, He appeared to His disciples.  His resurrection body still bears the scars from the crucifixion.  Thomas was not present when Jesus came and when he was told Jesus was there, he said unless he put his finger in Jesus’ nail marks in His hands and put his hand in Jesus’ side where the spear wounded Him, Thomas would not believe.  Jesus appeared again, Thomas was there and Jesus allowed him to feel the wounds.  Thomas said, ‘may Lord and my God.’  Jesus said blessed are those who have not seen (literally) and yet have believed.  Jesus goes on to say, in this verse, that when we ‘see’ Jesus in the Bible and believe, He will raise us up and we will spend eternity with Him.  It doesn’t get any better.
