Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 179

July 1;   3 John 2;   237/260(I);   ‘Beloved’

3 John 2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

What an incredible verse.  The Lord tells us so much in one short verse.  First of all, the Lord calls us beloved.  That is the same Word God the Father uses when He refers to Jesus in Matthew 3 and Matthew 17.  Jesus is His beloved Son.  That should not surprise us, the Lord tells us that the Father loves us as much as He loves Jesus (John 17:23).  Next we are told in this verse that the Lord wants us to prosper.  That word prosper means to do well financially.  Nowhere in the Bible are we taught that the Lord does not want us to prosper financially.  To say that God does not want us to prosper financially in a religious untruth.  God the Father just does not want us to be greedy.  This verse also tells us that it is the desire of the Father that we would be in health.  Sickness and disease entered this world when Adam sinned.  It is never the will of God that people become sick.  His will is clearly stated here.  He desires (‘above all things’ KJV) that we would be in health.  How comforting it is to know that if you are not feeling well, God the Father wants you healed and teaches us several ways in the Word for us to be healed.  Finally, and this is so very important, we are told that we will prosper and be in health as our soul prospers.  Our mind is constantly bombarded by thoughts and information that are contrary to what the Bible says.  We must refuse those thoughts and avoid all of this deceptive and negative information that bombards us daily.  Spending quality time daily reading your Bible is the best way to nullify that negative information.  The Word is true, nothing else.  You are God’s beloved.
