June 29;   I John 5:13;   235/260(I);   ‘You Have Eternal Life’

1 John 5:13 I write this to you who believe in the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.      NLT

The Word of God is a wonderful history Book.  The Word of God introduces us to many great men and women of faith.  The Word of God shows us the high moral standard the Lord wants us to live by.  All of these are important aspects of the Bible.  None of these are the primary reason that we have the Word of God.  Almighty God painstakingly inspired men, by the Holy Spirit, to write what He revealed to them.  God’s Word was written to introduce us to the Lord Jesus Christ.  Who He is, what He has done for us and what we have because of what He has done.  Old Testament sacrifices pointed to Jesus’ sacrifice.  The garments worn by the High Priest pointed to Jesus.  Prophecies uttered by the Old Testament prophets, were all about Jesus.  Jesus life in the Gospels gives us a perfect picture of how we are to live.  Jesus’ death on the cross is vividly told in the gospels and His glorious resurrection declared. The epistles (letters) written by Paul, James, Peter, John and Jude tell us what we have because of Jesus.  All of this, and really much more were assembled in the most important possession we will ever have, The Bible.  When you read the Bible and begin to comprehend the majesty of Jesus, it becomes very clear that Jesus is the Son of God, that He led a sinless life and that He died a substitutionary life on the cross for us, eternal life and how to receive it is presented to you.  When you believe on Jesus and ask Him into your heart to be your Lord and Savior, then you know that you have eternal life.
