Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 154

June 3;   Hebrews 6:10;   210/260(I);   ‘The Labor of Love’

Hebrews 6:10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.      NIV

Paul, then Saul, in Acts 9 is supernaturally confronted by the Lord Jesus.  Jesus asks Saul why is he persecuting Jesus?  Saul was not persecuting Jesus, Jesus had risen from the dead and was seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven.  Saul was persecuting Christians and when you persecute Christians, Jesus told Saul, that he was persecuting Jesus.  That is the negative side of this verse.  This verse is teaching that when we do the work of the ministry, helping those who do not know Jesus, find Him, our work reflects the love we have for our Lord Jesus Christ.  That is ‘heavy.’  The Lord Jesus loved humanity so much that He willingly left heaven, came to earth as a Man, ministered as a Man anointed by the Holy Spirit and suffered for our sins and sicknesses so that we would not have to.  Seated at the right hand of the Father, Jesus sees and knows all of the work we do as His Ambassadors here on earth.  We return His love for us as we learn His Word, get strong in prayer and minister to those who do not yet know Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit who is in us and upon us.  Our love for the lost represents our love for Jesus in a significant way.  The Lord watches and will not forget our labors. We will be rewarded in heaven for our diligent efforts to lead the unsaved to Jesus.  There are blessings here for those who do the work of the Lord as well.  Not only personal gratification that you are playing a role in the eternal work of the Lord, but all of our needs met by a Lord who sees and rewards.  One vital way you prove your love for Jesus is by helping everyone get saved. Forever is at stake
