Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 152

June 2;   Hebrews 5:9;    209/260(I);   ‘The Author of Salvation’

Hebrews 5:9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,

Jesus was perfected and became the Author of eternal salvation.  What does that mean?  Jesus surely was not perfected in the moral sense, since He never sinned.  Jesus was perfected in that His obedience to do the Father’s will and His obedience to say only what the Father told Him to say, qualified Jesus to be our Author of eternal salvation.  Jesus came to earth exactly when the Father intended to send Him.  His ministry began at the age of thirty, after the Holy Spirit came upon Him to empower Jesus to minister.  Twice the Father said He was well pleased with the Lord Jesus.  At the beginning of His ministry and well into His ministry.  Jesus preached, taught and healed in obedience to His Father.  In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus in agonized prayer, disciplined His mind, which recoiled at what lay ahead.  Finally, after being mocked, ridiculed and brutalized, Jesus went to the cross, to redeem us from sin and sickness and the curse that Adam brought upon the earth when he sinned.  The last thing Jesus said was, “It is finished,” meaning He had accomplished everything the Father sent Him to do.  Our eternal destiny with God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ was secured.  Now, what everyone of us has to do, is understand that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He willingly came to earth as a Man, ministered mightily and went to the cross paying the incredible price for sin and sickness, so that we would not have to.  Knowing this, believing this and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior is how we obey Him unto eternal life.  The Word of God clearly teaches these incredible truths.
