January 15;    John 2:23;    70/260(VI);    ‘Miracles Cause Belief’

John 2:23 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs which He did.

The Lord Jesus was in Jerusalem for the Passover.  The Holy Spirit had come upon Jesus when He was water baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist.  Jesus was now empowered to flow in the miracle working power of the Holy Spirit and He was doing miracles, signs and wonders in Jerusalem.  The miracles caused the people to believe in Him.  The Lord Jesus’ ministry as a Man, anointed by the Holy Spirit was to be an Example for us.  We, as believers, when we become baptized in the Holy Spirit have the same power to heal and do miracles as the Lord Jesus did.  How we need to see miracles today.  Miracles alleviate pain and suffering and they open the heart of the one the miracle was performed on and the hearts of those who see the miracle.  Miracles should be common occurrences for Spirit filled believers today.  Because the baptism in the Holy Spirit brings the empowerment of the Holy Spirit upon a Christian, the devil will fight this incredible gift.  God’s Word is our teaching manual and the Word clearly teaches that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is for today.  Without the power of the Holy Spirit, we are endeavoring to do the ministry of the Lord Jesus with our ability alone.  The Lord Jesus did not do this and neither can we.  Nothing in life is more exciting that to be Spirit filled and minister to others by the power of the Holy Spirit.  If you are not baptized in the Holy Spirit, ask God for that gift.  He will give it to you.  Receive what the Lord wants you to have, and flow in that power, setting the captives free.  Nothing this world offers can ever compare.
