Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 143

May 23;   2 Timothy 3:16;   199/260(I);   ‘The Inspired Word’

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

The Bible has one Author, the Holy Spirit.  Many men wrote different books of the Bible, but they were inspired by the Holy Spirit.  Almighty God would never allow the eternal truths. that have to be imparted to us, to be the thoughts and ideas of men.  How can we know that the Word of God is true?  How has the Word effected your life?  When you believed the foundational doctrines of the Word and were Born Again, has your life changed?  If when you have been taught the Word and have read it on your own, and to the best of your ability done what the Word said, have areas of your life that you were having a difficult time with improved?  The word ‘reproof’ means conviction.  The Lord knows there are areas in your life that you need to be convicted of as being wrong.  The Word of God does that.  The Lord loves you and convicts you so that you can change.   The Lord never convicts you to condemn you, but that your life will not be hindered by things that are detrimental to you.  The Word that convicts also corrects.  It is wonderful that the Word does convict us of areas that must be dealt with, but the Word does not stop there.  The Word of God corrects us so that our life changes for the better.  Areas that need to be corrected hinder us from God’s blessings and from us fulfilling His will for our lives.  The blessings the Word tells us that are legally yours are hindered when we sin.  That is why the Word corrects.  The Word instructs us in righteousness.  It gives the fact that we are forgiven when we become Born Again, our sins are gone and the Word teaches us how to live righteously.
