Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse" Day 134

May 14;   2 Thessalonians 3:13;   190/260(I);   ‘Do Not Grow Weary’

2 Thessalonians 3:13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.

The Lord Jesus was teaching in His home town of Nazareth.  The people who heard Him were offended with Jesus.  They thought, “Isn’t this the Carpenter?”  The Bible teaches that He could do no mighty miracles in Nazareth as He did elsewhere because of the familiarity and the unbelief of the people.  Did the Lord Jesus get offended and quit?  Of course not.  The Bible says that Jesus went on to the next towns and taught there.  Remember, the Lord Jesus did not just come to redeem us from our sins and sicknesses.  Thank God that He did that.  The Lord Jesus also came to be our Example of how to live and how to minister.  Those who do not know the Lord Jesus in a saving manner yet, are confused, deceived and often hurt by life.  Often their response to the gospel and even our kindness is a negative one.  Accept it and keep right on doing the same things, preaching, walking in love and offering to pray for them when you know that there is a need.  With some that you minister to, their response will be immediate.  Praise the Lord for that.  With others it will take more time, praise the Lord for that too. The difficult ones help us to develop patience, maturity and faith.  The Lord Jesus never quit and over the course of His three year plus ministry, multitudes were affected for good by His love, His teaching and His power.  It will be exactly the same for you and in the meantime, the Lord will bless you with the most thrilling and rewarding life.  Nothing the world offers comes close to the amazing life loving and serving Jesus brings.  We know the truth and we are not weary helping others find it.
