Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 13

January 13;   Luke 24:49;   68/260(VI);   ‘The Holy Spirit Upon’

Luke 24:49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."

The Lord Jesus had risen from the dead and now appears to His disciples.  He tells them to wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit comes upon them and endues them with power.  The Lord had already told the disciples that it was important for Him to go back to heaven.  Why would it be important for the Lord Jesus to leave His disciples and return to heaven? For then He would send the Holy Spirit to come upon them and empower them to minister, just as the Lord Jesus ministered.  The Holy Spirit comes in you when you are Born Again.  At that time, the Holy Spirit removes our hard hearts (spirit) and replaces it with a heart alive unto the Lord.  The Holy Spirit also deposits the love of God into our spirit and the fruit of the Spirit as well.  The Holy Spirit coming in us is primarily for character, the character of Jesus.  Shortly after the Lord appeared to them and told them the Holy Spirit would come upon them, the disciples and others were baptized in the Holy Spirit.  That is when they were empowered to minister by the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.  How incredibly exciting.  This is how the Lord’s ministry continued.  Christians, baptized in the Holy Spirit, now taught, healed and did miracles by the Holy Spirit’s power.  The Holy Spirit comes upon Christians to empower them for ministry. The supernatural power of the Holy Spirit is still available.  The baptism in the Holy Spirit is a gift.  Receive it and begin to flow in the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.
