Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 123

May 3;   Colossians 1:13;   179/260(I);   ‘Out of Darkness’

Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

The Apostle Paul teaches us that when we become Born Again, the Lord delivers us from the power of darkness.  The word ‘power’ is literally the word authority.  Obviously, the power of darkness is the authority of the devil.  Once we are Born Again, satan no longer has any authority over us.  You must know this by knowing the Word of God, otherwise, the devil who no longer has authority over you will continue to harass your life.  Once you do know from the Word of God, that satan no longer has authority over you, rebuke him, declare that you are free and refuse to allow him to cause misery in your body or mind.  Until you know what the Lord Jesus has done, the devil who is legally under your feet, will cause misery.  Not knowing what Jesus did, if you are a Christian makes no sense, since the Word tells us this. As soon as we are Born Again, legally we are in the kingdom of God.  We live in and function on the earth, but our needs are met and we have been given authority to reign in life by the Lord Jesus Christ.  As a Christian, you must know this truth and function in line with the authority you have been given by the Lord.  We have this authority to bless us and to minister on earth and set people free.  Verse 12 teaches us a very important aspect of this truth, thank and praise God the Father for what He has done for us through Jesus.  We have been given not only eternal life, but the ability to have a full and abundant life here on earth.  The reality of what has been done for us should cause us to be eternally grateful, thanking the lord and telling Him how much we love Him every day.
