Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 111

April 21;   Galatians 5:16;   167/260(I);   ‘Walk in the Spirit’

Galatians 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

As Christians, we live in a world that has no moral standards or principles.  It has always been this way.  Our adversary, satan, who is the legal god of this world, as a result of the sin of Adam, does all he can to present the temptations he offers in a manner that are difficult to resist.  The world system, satan controls, is alienated from God and is opposed to God.  Sin is offered in an alluring manner and we are lied to, being told God wants to keep us from what is offered, because He does not want us to have fun.  The Bible teaches that sin is a pleasure (Hebrews 11:25).  The pleasure only lasts for a short period of time and then what sin really is reveals itself.  Sin is bait that hooks us and eventually, if not stopped, destroys lives.  Demon spirits called familiar spirits in the Bible, know areas of your life that you can be successfully tempted in.  These spirits will tempt you in these areas in order to cause misery.  The Lord offers a way of life that is completely different.  First, He teaches us in the Word the real intent of sin.  This verse then tells us to ‘walk in the Spirit.’ Jesus has a better way to live.  ‘Walk’ means doing something all of the time.  Purposing to read the Bible daily, praying daily, church attendance and the Holy Spirit’s leading and empowerment stops the tactics of the devil from his intentions.  As you begin to look for opportunities to minister and help others, you see that the devil’s lying system cannot compare to what the Lord offers. Even if you do not do much of this now, you can start.  Before long, you will be thrilled for this life, given by the Lord to bless you abundantly.
