Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 253

September 10, 2019;     Titus 3:6;      203/260(IV);      ‘The Holy Spirit’

Titus 3:6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

Verse 5 teaches that we were saved by the Lord’s mercy and grace, not by earning salvation by our works.  When we became born again our sins had been cleansed by the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.  The Holy Spirit gave us a ‘new life.’  Here are the things that the Holy Spirit did in our lives when we made Jesus our Lord.  The Holy Spirit removed our heart (spirit) of stone and replaced it with a heart (spirit) of flesh (Ezekiel 11:19).  Our recreated spirit is alive unto God.  The Holy Spirit came to live in our spirit when we were born again (John 14:17).  The Holy Spirit deposited the love of God into our spirit when we were saved (Romans 5:5). The character of the Lord Jesus, represented by the 9 fruit of the Spirit, were put into our spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).  The Holy Spirit will lead us, bear witness with us and show us things to come (Romans 8:14, 16; John 16:13).  The Holy Spirit comes upon us when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:5).  Praying in tongues is one of the incredible blessings that we receive when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit.  Praying in tongues expands our ability to pray exponentially.  We are also empowered by the power of the Holy Spirit when were are baptized in the Holy Spirit.  The Lord Jesus came to earth as a Man.  His miracle ministry began after the Holy Spirit came upon Him.  The Holy Spirit that came upon the Lord Jesus to do miracles, signs and wonders comes upon us when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8).  What a blessing He is to us.
